Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Customs Brokerage, has full operational responsibilities for the oversight of the CHB-410 station. The Senior Manager, Customs Brokerage, assists the Supervisors in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Customs Brokerage team. This position provides leadership and oversight within the Brokerage team to ensure compliant transactions, efficient production, and the required customer service level and profitability is achieved and maintained, as well as providing support for team members to promote development. This position reports to the Senior VP – International Operations.

  • Oversee Supervisors for Customs Brokerage.
  • Manage ad support for general Accounts and Polaris teams.
  • Backup for Director, Customs Brokerage when out of the office.
  • Participate in the monthly Polaris and Toro broker calls and QBRs.
  • Provide trade compliance updates to customers and internal teams.
  • Back up for the monthly PMS ACH reports from the ACE portal and provide to internal and external customers.
  • Assist with new customer onboarding and entry writer assignment – gathering of information needed for entries to be performed, and help ensure smooth transition.
  • Provide regulatory and practical guidance as needed.
  • Provide HTS advice.
  • Monitor the 410 ISF exception report daily.
  • Attend the weekly Cargowise calls and share applicable info as needed.
  • Monitor the 410 CRAW and daily invoice reports.
  • Participate in new customer calls.
  • Monitor PSC requests and ensure timely processing.
  • Drive preemptive communication and take immediate corrective action when needed to minimize exposure and risk to our customers and EFW; Communicate high-risk situations to the Director, Customs Brokerage.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • Identify, document, and implement process improvements.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to their direct reports and ongoing communication with the Director, Customs Brokerage.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members.
  • Back up the team as needed.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Comply with company C-TPAT and TSA security procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The qualifications listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High-level working knowledge of the Customs entry process, different types of Customs entries, and PGA entry processing in ACE.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Highly developed customer service orientation.
  • Ability to ensure work is performed according to the customer’s SOP and meet their expectations in a high-volume environment.
  • Process-driven.
  • Demonstrated mindset and articulated vision for a leadership role, along with a desire to continually develop leadership skills.
  • 10+ years of experience is preferred in a Customs Brokerage operations environment.
  • Customs brokerage license preferred but not mandatory.
  • Team player.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

SUPERVISION

Position functions with supervision and has direct reports.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum of an associate’s degree (or equivalent) and 10 years of experience in the  International transportation industry.

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

None required.

 

TRAVEL

10% of travel required.
