Responsibilities

The Supervisor, Legal Affairs, will report directly to the Director, Legal Affairs, and will be responsible for managing all legal documents and processes as well as assisting the Director with projects as needed.  This role will work closely with the legal team to ensure EFW complies with all relevant laws related to contracts and insurance policies. Duties will include but may not be limited to legal document review, legal research projects, corporate compliance, international and domestic regulations, and legal training.

  • Assist the Director, Legal Affairs and Chief Legal Officer with managing all company legal matters.
  • Work with the sales team to ensure contracts and other legal requests are responded to timely.
  • Partner with Station Leaders to drive compliance and develop security best practices.
  • Assist the Director, Legal Affairs with all legal related communication.
  • Ensure all legal requests are handled in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all required certifications, authorities, licenses and permits.
  • Ensure all insurance policies are properly maintained and complied with consistently.
  • Create training materials and partner with L&D to conduct training sessions for all employees on compliance and legal standards.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement throughout the organization by embracing process improvement, compliance metrics, technology, and change management to meet and exceed security and compliance objectives.
  • Ensure all customers have required contracts or tariffs in place and are properly maintained.
  • Support corporate initiatives such as process improvement, documenting existing processes and procedures, in order to support company and station revenue and gross profit goals.
  • Maintain good communication and positive relationships with all employees.
  • Support and promote company core values.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Comply with company C-TPAT and TSA security procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions.

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

SUPERVISION

Position functions semi-autonomously and directly supervises 2-5 employees.  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Legal Administration or Logistics. At least five years of legal support and operations experience in transportation, logistics, or other transportation business.  Working knowledge of all relevant governmental agencies and regulations. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

   

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

None required but paralegal certification preferred.

 

TRAVEL

Periodic travel up to 25% required.
