Responsibilities

The Claims Analyst reports directly to the Supervisor, Corporate Administration. The Claims Analyst is responsible for investigating, gathering information, communicating and resolving cargo claims as needed to meet the expectations set forth by the EFW claims process.

  • Review claim files for assigned stations.
  • Provide Station POCs recommendations on claims liability according to the data gathered.
  • Amend and adjust claims according to results of investigation inclusive of factual data and/or terms and conditions set forth in agreements made.
  • Correspond in writing with claimants regarding denials, additional information requests, amendments and resolution.
  • Gather, and confirm carrier rebuttal information with customer.
  • Calculate insurance, Declared Value and TS Plus liabilities; communicate with insurance company and make sure EFW recovers payments due.
  • Timely, file claims against carriers to recover claims payments according to the carriers’ terms.
  • Prepare reports for customers and EFW management as requested.
  • Follow up with customers, stations and any other resources needed to gather additional data and documentation for proper resolution of claims.
  • Negotiate settlements with customers. Prepare requests for checks and send to customers.
  • Accountable for the proper management of assigned stations/customers to meet and exceed claims resolution time frames, communication needs, terms and conditions and any other reasonable tasks requested or assigned.
  • Drive accountability in continuous process improvement in daily activities; continuously strive to streamline claims processes to become more efficient and productive and to decrease the amount of time spent on claims.
  • As required assist other investigator(s) with questions and claims workload.
  • Keep Claims data base, WT and claims files updated with the most current information.
  • Support and promote company core values.
  • Compliance with company C-TPAT and TSA security procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to make independent decisions and work with little supervision.
  • Must be mentally and emotionally capable of handling a high stress environment.
  • Applicants must be comfortable working independently, or in a team setting and working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, internet, web-based and job specific software applications required.
  • High level of attention to detail in composing and proofing materials required.
  • The successful candidate will have a proven competence to communicate clearly and persuasively with all levels of an organization.
  • Strong customer service, oral and written communication skills required.
  • The successful applicant must possess the ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects and set priorities.

SUPERVISION

Position functions with supervision and has no direct reports.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 0-2 years of experience.  However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.  Experience working in Freight Forwarding or Transportation industry desired.
