Responsibilities

The Manager, Human Resources, leads the Human Resources function and manages the implementation and administration of policies, programs and procedures to maintain organizational effectiveness and enhance the Company’s ability to achieve its growth and profitability objectives. The Manager, Human Resources also oversees Learning & Development and is responsible for partnering with business leaders and internal/external SMEs to develop training programs to aid in the achievement of business goals and strategic mandates as identified by the Sr. Leadership team.

  • Consult with business leaders and internal/external SMEs regarding training needs of the organization.
  • Build and maintain effective business relationships with outside vendors to ensure availability of all training materials to develop and ensure cost-effective training solutions.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of HR initiatives, policies and procedures, including compliance, employee onboarding and exiting, performance management, training, compensation, and affirmative action planning.
  • Expert application of adult learning principles and appropriate instructional design methods for development of learning solutions/content including Learning Technologies such as eLearning or instructor-led trainings.
  • Oversee the design and develop of instructional materials, programs, and processes for all training solutions and ensuring team members are aware of training requirements.
  • Monitor and implement learning and development industry trends and best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate best practices in sourcing, recruitment, hiring, orientation, succession planning, retention, and organizational exit programs to ensure the workforce’s ability to achieve the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate the status and productivity of HR programs and recommend changes to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist with decisions relating to hiring, terminating, compensation, and performance evaluation.
  • Manage, develop, and direct Human Resource staff.
  • Pay close attention to trends and developments in the HR field, briefing Vice President, Legal Affairs & General Counsel, on those that may impact EFW, either positively or negatively.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining standard process for Performance Management. 
  • Train leaders in a variety of areas including company policy and other legal requirements, hiring, performance management, employee training and development, and dealing with organizational change.
  • Investigate and interpret employee concerns, providing advice and methodology for problem solving.
  • Promptly investigate and resolve any allegations or issues; recommend or implement disciplinary actions when such steps are necessary based upon investigation results.
  • Conduct investigations regarding discrimination and unfair employment practices, including, but not limited to, those involving federal and state agency charges.
  • Manage the administration of all HR recordkeeping, including personnel files, medical files, the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and certain Payroll functions that are company level responsibilities.
  • Direct and oversee communication programs within the organization. Oversee preparation of internal employee communications regarding company performance, future direction, and corporate or human resources policies. Ensure accuracy and timelines of information distributed.
  • Periodically assess company climate by obtaining employee input (for example, employee surveys, employee meetings, management by walking around, etc.). Implement organizational change activities as appropriate in response to employee feedback.
  • Maintain good communication and a positive relationship with employees to promote employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Participate in regular meetings with VPs and Regional Managers.
  • Comply with company C-TPAT and TSA security procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 7-10 years of experience in HR including 3-5 years in a supervisory capacity required. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration. 

 

Position functions semi-autonomously and directly supervises 5-10 employees.  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Periodic travel up to 25% required.

 

Typically sitting at a desk or table.  Intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. The employee may periodically drive their personal or company car when travelling.

 

  • Must possess knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess knowledge of internet, web-based, and job specific software applications required.
  • Must possess above average interpersonal skills to interface and counsel employees and supervisors.
  • Working knowledge of LMS and ATS.
  • Proven competence to communicate clearly and persuasively with all levels of an organization required.
  • Exemplary skills in presenting/facilitating a wide variety of training to diverse audiences and the ability to motivate, communicate, and instruct/train others, using both technical and non-technical language to explain complex subjects and processes.
  • Proven ability to handle difficult conversations required. Honest, sincere, and consistent.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects and set priorities.
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of and experience in working with government agencies, regulations and laws (FMLA, OFCCP, FLSA, EEOC, DOL, OHSA, NLRB, etc.).
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally when required via car, train, or plane.
  • Ability to read and interpret comprehensive and intricate research documents.
  • Ability to write scientific reports and technical correspondence.
  • Ability to work with executives and communicate abstract concepts.
  • Ability to present to a high level of the organization and groups outside of the organization.
  • Ability to solve problems with complex variables through non-standardized solutions that require independent judgment and analysis.
  • Ability to draw inferences and use deductive reasoning with no prescribed procedures to solve complex problems.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
