Responsibilities

The Junior Developer reports directly to the Manager, Information Technology. The Junior Develop is responsible for supporting the process of maintaining, and servicing EDI partners with Estes Forwarding Worldwide.

 

  • The Junior Developer will support, provide maintenance, and service of EDI trading partners with EFW.
  • Assist with setting up each account, coordinate testing with the trading partner, and make sure that all segments and data integration components to meet the customer’s minimum requirements.
  • Assist with the design, testing, implementation, and maintenance of small to medium projects and business initiatives under the guidance of the Coordinator, EDI and the Manager, Information Technology.
  • The position will work closely with the EDI Coordinator. Among other responsibilities, the junior position will be responsible for supporting daily EDI transactional processes.  The junior position will look to the EDI Coordinator as questions arise which are beyond the ability of the position with regards to EDI transactions.
  • Assist as needed with new partner/transaction set setups and perform updates to various internal systems.
  • Understand/communicate EDI compliance requirements at an appropriate level.
  • Provide support for the EDI production processes using internal tools.
  • Monitor EDI processing, identify and resolve or escalate processing exceptions as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the data quality of electronic data flowing into and out of EFW's EDI systems. Design and implement data quality monitoring tools to identify and resolve problems.
  • Responsible for timely handling of all issues, employing business knowledge and creativity, as well as any and all available tools and resources.
  • Assist with handling EDI issues and provide notification and/or escalation to appropriate parties,  critical and recurring problems. Issues may include, but are not restricted to, requests for clarification or information, perceived processing problems, actual processing problems, requests for system changes, vendor surveys, and procedural issues.
  • Assist with transaction set system testing with partners to ensure successful production activation.
  • Assist with monitoring compliance to EDI standards, validate data content, and ensure error-free processing through EDI translation and VAN.
  • Comply with company C-TPAT and TSA security procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education/ Experience & Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 2-4 years of experience in Information Systems.  However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

 

Minimum 2 years of experience scripting in an object oriented language such as Java, Microsoft VB or .NET.

 

Customer support experience is desired.

 

Working knowledge of Relational databases is required.

 

Working knowledge of Object Orientated programing languages such as Java, VB, or .Net is required

 

Prior knowledge of EDI ANSI X12 preferred.

 

Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, Internet Explorer.

 

Strong communication skills, good organizational skills and ability to problem solve.

 

Ability to work independently & in fast paced team environment.

 

Must be able to and comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct.

 

Must be able to interact well with others.

 

Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents. 

 

Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence. 

 

Ability to work with groups of people such as other departments and communicate known concepts. 

 

Ability to solve problems with a variety of concrete variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis. 

 

Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve moderately complex problems.

 

Must be eligible to work in the United States.
